Finding a job in Germany

Finding a job in Germany

almanarajob.blogspot.com

Is your CV adapted to the German job market? Find out how to search and apply for a job in Germany, and understand your employment rights under labour law and your work contract.

Finding a job in a foreign country is more difficult than just knowing what field you want to go into – it is also crucial to familiarise yourself with the labour culture and laws of your new home. Below is Expatica’s in depth guide to job searching in Germany. Whether you have questions about how to prepare your CV or how employment contracts work, Expatica is here to help.

How to get a residence and work permit
EU citizens do not need a permit to work in Germany, provided they have a valid passport or national identity card and comply with German employment laws and regulations. For non-European citizens, whether a work permit  is issued depends on the type of resident permit you hold. The residence permit depends on the type of intended employment. There are different kinds of employment: non-qualified, qualified, highly qualified, and self-employment.

Given the difficulty of getting a work permit, many people consider working illegally. However, finding illegal work in Germany is difficult and not recommended. Illegal workers are under constant threat of deportation and are often exploited by employers. An employer cannot even be forced to pay for work done by someone who is working illegally.

Finding Work
almanarajob.blogspot.comWhenever you apply for a full-time position, employers will expect a thick package that documents your entire educational and professional career and is based on your CV or resume, known as a lebenslauf. Like any CV, the lebenslauf should include a listing of all your previous positions and responsibilities, in reverse chronological order, as well as any degrees and outside activities and your final grades. However, Germans also expect you to include your marital status, sex, birth date, number of children and a recent photo.

Alongside the CV, applications should include written recommendations from all previous employers and copies of any degrees or awards. Employers want to know everything about you and omitting any of the above could keep you out of an applicant pool, especially if the other job-seekers are predominantly German.

When applying for positions with a broader international scope, hiring managers are forgiving as long as they can paint a fairly complete picture of you and your past. Since it’s unlikely you can cobble together a complete application package, find everything you can, make copies and send it over – put only the details you feel comfortable divulging on your CV. Once they’ve found the right candidate, employers will send the package back to you. If you decide to go through a recruitment agency, they’ll be able to help you figure out which documents are vital and which are unnecessary. They will also be able to say what your expected salary will be and discuss in detail any additional benefits.

The Internet is a good place to look for jobs, for instance, at sites such as jobs.expatica.com/de, www.stepstone.dewww.jobpilot.de, www.monster.de, www.toytowngermany.com or www.craigslist.org. The pages of companies that have caught your eye can also prove useful. The Guardian’s job site (www.jobs.guardian.co.uk) often has English-language jobs in Germany. Conferences and professional associations can sometimes yield results but Germans generally treat networking among anyone but their friends and immediate colleagues as insincere.

If you are looking for a highly qualified or academic job at a national level, you should consult the Saturday edition of national papers such as the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Suddeutsche Zeiting, Die Weld, Handelsblatt and Frankfurter Rundshau. Job adverts are also available online under www.berlin-online.de and www.berliner-zeitung.de. Finally, take a look at www.ex-berliner.com, the website of the local expat magazine. And don't forget to check your embassy's website for any offerings.

EURES
Job in Germany
The EURES network is a partnership between the employment services in the EEA to support the free movement of workers. It facilitates the circulation of vacancies and enables online access to up-to-date information on living and working conditions in each EEA member state. EURES staff specialise in the practical issues surrounding employment in member states. They assist people who wish to work abroad and help employers find suitable employees from other EEA countries.

Finding work before moving to Germany
Getting a job before you arrive is the easiest way to smooth the rocky transition to a foreign country. Employers may provide or pay for accommodation in your first few weeks, further easing the change and colleagues provide instant friends for lonely expats. Gaining a job without an in-person interview is not uncommon and human resources departments in larger companies are familiar with and equipped to interview candidates living elsewhere. The best resources are the websites listed above, as well as any friends or relatives that might have experience in Germany.

Because you’re applying from abroad, your qualifications are even more vital and submitting a sub-par application is a waste of everyone’s time, as email applications are easier to toss. Take the time to provide all the documentation you can and outline the reasons you would be perfect for the job in Germany – and worth the hassle of hiring a foreigner.

Recruitment Agencies
German companies have spent a lot of time and money in recent years reducing their staffs and handing less key jobs to outsiders. This is often true in hiring.

Anyone not at the top echelon of the workforce is unlikely to find a job through a recruitment agency. German companies are notoriously frugal and don’t want to spend on external agencies when the country has a well-established system of advertising and applying for jobs. But headhunters are popular for executives or any high-level position that might report directly to the board.

Still, there are many recruitment agencies for computer-related, executive and scientific jobs. Providing temporary workers is supposedly one of the fastest-growing industries. If you find a recruitment company offering the kinds of jobs you’re qualified for, they can also help you with the transition and paperwork and let you know what your services are worth on the German market.

Employment Contracts
The basis of Germany’s heavily regulated labour market is the contract, which is mandatory for any company offering a job in Germany

Under certain conditions, you may be offered a temporary contract (befristete Arbeitsvertrag) for one or several years. Both your employer and you can choose not to renew a limited contract and it can only be renewed once. After that, it must be converted to an unbefristete Arbeitsvertag, an unlimited contract.

Either contract will outline your basic responsibilities, pay, benefits and working hours. Since much of German working life is regulated, most contracts are similar and employers are not allowed to hide any illegal clauses. The key details are your salary, benefits and vacation days.

The contract can usually be terminated within two weeks during your probationary period but will require at least 28 days notice afterwards. Because of quirks in German law that require notice on the 14th or the last day of any month, the 28 days are likely to be longer than 28 actual days. However, you may negotiate the notice period as part of your contract. Most German companies require three months’ notice – executives often have to give six months to a year.
Labour law
Perhaps one of the biggest German urban myths is that once you’ve been granted an unlimited employment contract, it’s almost impossible to be fired or laid off. This simply isn’t true. There is no set process for being fired but if employers have a real reason (known in German as wichtigem Grund) for wanting to get rid of you – embezzlement, incompetence or insubordination for example – they can. The law also permits lay-offs in order to keep companies on the brink afloat.
job in Germany..
On the other hand, large German corporations will have a works council made up of employees that must approve all new recruitment, layoffs and firings.

They will be your first recourse in any dispute with your employer. Should you find yourself without a job, Germany has a special labour court to settle disputes. However, don’t expect any massive cash settlements. If you win a case, the court will award you back-pay and force your former employer to give you your job back.

The best place to get assistance navigating Germany’s dense labour laws would be any professional association related to your job, if you have one. If not, the German labour office, the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (01801 555 111) could help. However, it’s staffed by bureaucrats who will shuffle you around for days if not weeks.

In reality, without the help of a professional organisation or union, the best place to go for advice is a lawyer. German labour regulations have been tested by years of actual cases and labour lawyers are up to date on all the latest dos and don’ts. The fee may be painful at first, but is really an investment in your future.

There is also The Legal Guide to Germany, which can be found at www.lg2g.info/. The website is billed as “Expats’ Concise Guide to Officialdom in Germany.” The project attempts to help expats either living or coming to Germany to get a reliable orientation of their everyday legal rights and responsibilities in Germany. The portal offers a platform for legal content, newsletters on topics of everyday concern to foreigners in Germany and eLiterature for professional needs.

Avionics Jobs May Be The Most Clever Job Selection In Aviation

Clever JOB..
Now , you may probably going to want to get off a trip to the area of avionics job ? Well, I can tell you immediately that profession in avionics can be a particularly good choice for several reasons that undoubtedly will cover in a second.

But first, I have to take this into account : Clever JOB

Rising unemployment . Foreclosure crisis worldwide . Bank failures . Higher taxes.

Four crises in the global economy and at the time of this writing , none of these problems do not seem to improve in the short term .

Now, I really do not want to sound too negative here , but I want to be practical. Employment opportunities are hard to find today, and by the looks of things , really only going to get worse . It will be important for people who are on the lookout for opportunities and / or occupation of employment to find a job that is not only demand , but also pay well , they have great benefits and have the strength of employment.

After all, what good to bust tail to find a good job just to have this job disappears completely in a year or maybe even before that ?

Exactly Why A Profession Within The Avionics Jobs Field Is A Really Great Move

Firstly, what exactly is Avionics? Just for the sake of not becoming too complex, a simple definition would be:

‘Avionics, a term derived by combining aviation and electronics, describes all of the electronic navigational, communications, and flight management aids with which airplanes are equipped today.’

An individual inside the Avionics field is accountable with regard to everything electronic inside an aircraft. Some associated disciplines in the avionics jobs market would be:

Avionics (or Aviation) Technician: They are responsible for examining and checking aircraft computer as well as electronic programs and also the maintenance of these systems.

Aerospace Engineer: They will test aircraft components as it is geared to flight. They will manage navigational programs, research of those and correlated systems and work extensively on commercial airplane research.

Electrical Engineer: They analyze and produce motors, propulsion and like power systems Clever JOB.

Certification and pay in this field begin where an beginner Avionics Technician will typically begin earning roughly $ 18 an hour and may raise their pay (with experience in the work field) up to $ 30 an hour.

Avionics engineers may make up to $ 100,000 a year for top technicians in their field Clever JOB.

Academic requirements start at 3-4 years for a technican, and a 4-year bachelor’s degree (and quite often a Masters degree) for an engineer.

Yet another quite important facet within the Avionics Jobs market is job safety measures. Obviously, there are layoffs in aviation, and many of us read about them on a regular basis. On the other hand, the aviation business is a very fluid one with rehires occurring basically constantly.

Add in the fact that the avionics and airline business is one that has to always function even in difficult times, even if that requires that the government must step in to provide financial aid to keep it going.

One more vital factor to consider aviation jobs is the military aspect. Aviation is actually one of the most important facets in the armed forces and they have to have a enormous fleet of airplanes that must be serviced to the uppermost of standards. The military employs new aviation employees constantly.

Low Tax States Don’t Equal High Job States

 job states
Job States

The Department of Labor has released its state-by-state labor numbers: joblessness had declined in 24 states, risen in 13 (and Washington DC) and remained largely unchanged in 13 compared to last month’s figures.
While good news that a number of states are improving, there is also much to take from those that are continuing to struggle. The disparity also provides an opportunity for those who believe in the central tenet of federalism – that states are laboratories of experiment to see what works and what doesn’t.
As one explores the common threads among improving states, current Republican rhetoric, with its particularly heavy emphasis on tax policy, may cloud the issue. The numbers suggest a much larger, more complex story.Job States.
A fundamental problem comes with trying to directly relate unemployment to tax policy alone.
For example, Nevada, leading the nation in unemployment, has the fourth best tax environment, according to the Tax Foundation. Of the states without an income tax (nine in total), six have lower unemployment than the national average (Alaska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming), two are roughly keeping the national average (Tennessee and Washington) and two are above (Florida and Nevada). Of the seven states with a flat income tax, three are at the national average, three are below, and one (Michigan) is above.
Texas, which has produced 37 percent of all American jobs since the economy, is, according to CNBC’s 2010 numbers, the 30th most expensive state to do business, but still the best. The Wall Street Journal emphasizes the thorough nature of Texas’ appeal: “Capital—both human and investment—is highly mobile, and it migrates all the time to the places where the opportunities are larger and the burdens are lower. Texas has no state income tax. Its regulatory conditions are contained and flexible. It is fiscally responsible and government is small. Its right-to-work law doesn’t impose unions on businesses or employees.”
California, still plagued by double-digit unemployment, is a clear example for how this works the other way around. Despite, according to CNBC, being first in the nation in “Technology and Innovation” and “Access to Capital” it ranks 32nd in overall competitiveness. Rhode Island, ranked 49th overall due to high business costs (45th), poor transportation (48th) and hostility towards business (48th), is another case of poor state management. Overall, lack of competitiveness has culminated in an unemployment rate 1.8 percent above the national average.
This is not to say that tax policy is not an incredibly important variable. South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and New Hampshire (ranked first, third, sixth and seventh1respectively by the Tax Foundation Job States) all are below the national average. But, it’s imperative to emphasize the multitude of factors contributing to prosperity.
A pro-growth tax policy is a necessary but not sufficient element of success. Important aspects, like infrastructure, quality/education of workforce, quality of life, are as necessary to a well-functioning state. However, this common sense is often marginalized in current GOP rhetoric.
If Republicans continue to portray tax-cuts as “magic bullets”, the greater debate will be lost and the above issues will fall into the hands of the left’s public-based solutions. Republicans must cast aside the intellectual crutch of “cut taxes,Job States cut regulation” if they hope to display the breadth of economic understanding necessary to win an election.
These economic realities provide good and bad news for the Republican Party. The good news is that the famous Coolidge expression, “What is good for business, is good for America,” holds true. The bad news is that what is good for business is much further reaching than the answers provided by the GOP so far.
Job States..

GOOD JOB MASS EFFECT 3 CONTROVERSY, YOU RUINED THE ENDING FOR ME

 job mass

JOB MASS Effect 3 has shipped 3.5 million units since its launch last week, and fans are raving about the last installment of the trilogy. However, some fans are  also expressing their distaste for how the trilogy wraps up.
The ending of  JOB MASS Effect 3 has caused disgruntled gamers to band together and petition Bioware by donating close to $32,000 to Child’s Play. I believe they should be doing this out of the kindness of their hearts anyway, because that would be the nice thing to do, but that is not the point. The attention the ending is receiving is naturally causing it to be covered by gaming sites and discussed by gamers.
I have seen *spoiler* all over the place now about  JOB MASS Effect 3, and it’s starting to worry me.
Knowing parts of the ending beforehand does not completely give it away for me because it‘s all about experiencing it in full for myself, as long as I don‘t have a full run-down I‘m good. That does not mean I don’t like to be surprised though, and this goes for books, movies, TV shows, etc.
The reason fans are dissatisfied with ME3’s curtain call is not the problem, it’s when covering the ending to a popular game has the potential to ruin it for the ones who either haven’t beaten the game, haven’t played the series at all, or both.
I’m one of the people who haven’t beaten the game yet, and the controversy surrounding Mass Effect 3  has caused the ending to be slightly ruined for me.
I use the word “slightly” because when the dreaded “S” word came up in the article or comments (some didn’t contain a warning until the middle of the rant or post) I made it a point to look the other way, but that doesn’t mean some information didn’t make between the spaces in my fingers that covered my eyes.
There is nothing stopping me from ignoring articles containing spoilers, this I understand, but when they are in your face constantly a bit of temptation will start to creep into the back of the mind. I believe video game journalism should show a little responsibility and realize that posting an article with vital information to a game’s story can cause people to…well, read it.
This is just another example on why the temptation to keep yourself informed can also be a trap.

Just kidding..
Should Bioware Change The Ending to  JOB MASS Effect 3?
What about the petitioning gamers, do they have a right to demand Bioware change the ending? How should I know? I haven’t even got that far to judge for myself yet.
In all seriousness, I don’t believe that they don’t have that right for a few reasons:
- The choices you are allowed to make in the Mass Effect games give you certain freedoms over the subplots, and not the overall story plot points. Bioware did not give you a trilogy of blank pages called Mass Effect for you to create your own space opera. I believe that being able to customize how Shepard looks, how he beats down his enemies, and who he f**ks confused gamers into believing they had control over how his tale comes to an end.
- Complaining about the ending loudly, and taking action to have it your way, is basically speaking for the gamers who don’t share your opinion.
- Let’s just say that tomorrow Bioware and EA release  JOB MASS Effect 3: The Real Ending which is priced for $6.99. You play the add-on content and realize you don’t like that ending as well. Are you going to petition again? If this keeps up,  JOB MASS Effect could be the next “Never-ending Story” of our lifetime.
Hopefully you like the ending to my article
The controversy surrounding  JOB MASS Effect 3 supposedly will make me believe I won’t like how it ends. Until I can make that assessment, all I know is that I am having a great time with this game, and when I get to the end I’ll be sure to not tell you about it…
JOB MASS ..
